Physiotherapy treatments

  1. Joint mobilisation / spinal manipulation 

There are many different mobilising techniques for all the joints of your body. These techniques help to free up the joint and can improve your range of movement. In its most basic form, our spinal manipulation techniques consist of applying graded pressure (I to V) to the spinal joints to reduce stiffness, which is a common root cause of neck and back pain. Muscle Energy Techniques are another frequently used joint mobilisation.

  1. Soft tissue mobilisation 

Massage is a type of soft tissue mobilisation and an integral part of physiotherapy. There are lots of different types including sports massage, effleurage for swelling, trigger pointing, fascial massage, focused stretching, scar massage and many more.

  1. Exercises

We prescribe specific exercises to help regain range of movement, strength, tone, posture and to retain the benefits of your treatment. Our exercises are always specific to you as an individual.

  1. Education / advice

We describe the Do’s and Don’ts for your condition to help give it a chance to settle down and to progress. We discuss and demonstrate:

  • Postural correction
  • Workstation ergonomics
  • Modifications to activities of daily living
  • Strapping techniques
  1. Electrotherapy

We use ultrasound, TENS and interferential treatments when it’s an appropriate addition to your treatment.

Orthotics can be important to correct foot posture, which, if incorrect, can lead to other leg and back problems.
